Commercial Electrical Vehicle charging in Preston.

Electric Car Charging Points Are Increasingly Important!

There is a rapidly growing market for full electric and hybrid vehicles, that are becoming increasingly popular, as technology advances. From small two-seater electric cars, to large family cars and estates, the range of electric vehicles is larger than ever before. As a result, electric vehicles are becoming a more practical option when compared with models of the past.

Environmentally, electric vehicles can bring a wide range of benefits and advantages. This is because they do not emit the greenhouse gases that are contributing to global warming, unlike petrol or diesel cars. As a result, for anyone who is environmentally conscious, or who is looking to reduce their carbon footprint, an electric vehicle is a great choice. At the same time, the UK has pledged to make all vehicles sold by 2050, “zero-emissions”. This would make electric vehicles the number one choice.

In addition, the cost of running an electric car is much less than the cost of running a traditional petrol or diesel vehicle. This is because it only costs as little as 96p to fully charge an electric vehicle for a 100 mile range. This is significantly cheaper than the cost of petrol or diesel over the same range. On top of this, electric vehicles are also exempt from road tax, and the London Congestion Charge, and are entitled to free parking in numerous Pay & Display areas.

Furthermore, the costs to maintain an electric vehicle tend to be lower than those associated with a traditional vehicle. This is because electric motors use less than 20 moving parts, in comparison to the hundreds involved in a traditional vehicle, that can require repairing and replacing multiple times over their lifetime.

With future technology developments and soaring demand for environmentally friendly options, the number of electric vehicles will undoubtedly rise in the near future. And with that in mind, electric charging points will be more important than ever.

Installing Electric Car Charging Stations

With almost 30,000 charging points for electric vehicles across the UK, in 11,000 locations, the availability of public charging points for electric cars is only set to rise. And with government initiatives in place, such as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme, and the Workplace Charging Scheme, a wider, extended uptake is expected.

The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme is a useful grant for domestic properties that provides up to 75% of the installation cost (up to a total of £500) for home charging points. For those sitting on the fence about electric vehicles, this is a great incentive to take the plunge.

The Workplace Charging Scheme offers up to £500 per socket (up to a maximum of 20 sockets) for commercial properties. This provides a great incentive for businesses to provide charging points in the workplace.
